The 2018 Great American Smokeout is Thursday November 15th, 2018. This event is a national event, headed by the American Cancer Society. We hope to bring education on tobacco and its health impacts to all of the Mason community. The following partners will be apart of our event and the Cigarette Cleanup: Student Health Services, Human Resources, Fairfax County Health Department, Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board, American Cancer Society and Into Mason.

This event is two fold: a Table Fair and a Cigarette Cleanup. Both will run November 15th from 12pm to 2pm.

We are currently working to get volunteers from various service organizations around campus. We also encourage faculty and staff who would like to be involved to volunteer. If you are interested, reach out to dbicking@gmu.edu. We will provide gloves (non-latex) and bags for the disposal. Terracycle will be taking the discarded cigarette butts and disposing of them properly to prevent damage to our environment or sewage system.
